What Makes Coleman SaluSpa Inflatable Hot Tub Special

It’s worth starting with the fact that this outdoor inflatable hot tub is ranked among all the best inflatable hot tubs in America. And it is most often the choice of the next fan to bask in hot water.

This is a classic and one of the first Coleman brand hot tubs. In fact, it started the popularization of affordable inflatable hot tubs instead of expensive hard shell ones.

This inflatable hot tub doesn’t have any special extra features, but that’s also what makes it popular. When a person wants to buy a classic quality inflatable spa, they are more likely to choose this proven model over any other.

    List of specs explained

First things first, that is what you probably want to know:

    Capacity4-6 people (perfect for 2-3)
    Number of jets114
    Dimensions77 x 57 x 28 inches
    MaterialPolyvinyl Chloride (PVC)
    Features – Reinforced safety cover
    – Chemical dispenser
    – Soothing Massage System
    – Automatic heating function

So now we will explain what all these numbers and words mean. We begin with the capacity. Officially this hot tub can accommodate 4-6 people, and it really is, but… You will not feel particularly comfortable, especially if you are not skinny as sticks. So you can have fun parties, of course, but it’s better to soak in a hot tub for two or three for relaxation and comfort. The exception is that if you want to organize a hot tub party for kids, it can accommodate 5-6 of them.

What does that mysterious “114 jets” mean? The bubble nozzles provide the very system of soothing massage that we have already glimpsed. Even though there are many, they do not provide the strongest massage, but it will be enough for relaxation.

The dimensions of the spa are inextricably linked to how many people can fit in there. In general, this jacuzzi is considered a medium size — a kind of classic version, which is suitable for most people.

PVC is the classic material used for portable inflatable hot tubs. It is durable and lightweight. This model additionally uses an I-beam construction, which adds to the sturdiness and stability of the spa.

The cover with extra protection is one of the most interesting features of this hot tub. First, it better insulates the hot tub and retains heat, as well as keeps debris from accumulating in the spa. In addition, the double latches will prevent children from opening the hot tub when no one is looking after them. The ChemConnect system helps distribute chemicals evenly throughout the hot tub, and the automatic heating function will keep the hot tub from freezing in the winter.

A detailed review of the Coleman SaluSpa Inflatable Hot Tub

    Coleman SaluSpa Inflatable Hot Tub

Best inflatable hot tub to relax in a small company

Coleman SaluSpa Inflatable Hot Tub is ideal for a family of 3-4 people or a small company. Well, you can invite up to 6 people to the spa if you do not mind things getting a bit intimate.

You’re probably worried about the durability of an inflatable hot tub. Let me reassure you: Coleman hot tubs are made of durable PVC and are pressure-tested before they are shipped. In addition, we interviewed users who have owned this spa for over 6 months, and 9 out of 10 have never yet experienced a leak.

From installation to maintenance you shouldn’t feel much difficulty. The instructions are mostly with pictures (if they are not enough, you can find installation videos on YouTube). Be sure to take care of the chemicals, so that the water in your hot tub is always suitable for bathing and does not ruin the parts of the hot tub.

If you don’t know much about inflatable hot tub chemicals yet, we have a separate article where we explained what you’ll need to take care of your spa.

It will take you an average day (2 degrees per hour) to heat your hot tub to 104 degrees. However, it also depends on where you live and what the air temperature will be when you start heating the spa. We recommend covering SaluSpa with a lid while it’s heating and turning off the jets before you want to get in.

As we mentioned before, the 114 air jets that are in this hot tub are not the strongest. For a therapeutic massage, you would be better off choosing a more powerful hot tub, but this model will do a great job of relieving back pain and relaxation.

This spa will give you a real treat at a fraction of the price of a hard shell hot tub.

    Pros and Cons

The Coleman SaluSpa is a great choice (we wouldn’t recommend it otherwise), but it has its ups and downs like every hot tub. We will tell you everything as it is, and if you realize you still need another option, you can learn more about other Coleman’s quality inflatable hot tubs.

    Pros

    • Installation is easy and does not take much time
    • It is a portable hot tub and easy to move on
    • The material is durable and you are unlikely to encounter leaks even if you use it very often (9/10 of interviewed users never experienced leaks)
    • It is excellent for value for money
    • It has an easy-to-use interface at the pump
    • Runs very quietly
    • The floor is cushioned, so you don’t need to buy an extra cushion to sit on
    • Easy to clean and replace filters, and the chemical dispenser truly helps

    Cons

    • The manufacturer claims that the tub accommodates 6 people but in fact a maximum of 3-4 for comfort
    • The automatic shutdown feature annoys most users because they forget to restart it every three days

    Customer reviews

We researched over 100 reviews on the Coleman SaluSpa to see just how good this hot tub is. Some of them seemed particularly detailed to us, so we thought we’d share them with you.

A delightful shopping experience from start to finish. Not only free shipping, but the product even arrived a day ahead of schedule! It took no more than 30 minutes to set up, and we started filling it right away. We are surprised, but the hot tub is very sturdy for an inflatable. You can even sit on the sides, and nothing will happen. By the way, it holds its shape very well. You will have to take 24 hours to heat the water to 104 degrees so you won’t be bathing on the first day. We determine when we want to soak in it and then set a timer. The bubbles are strong, effective, and awesome. Both we and our friends and family love this hot tub, it has made our lives better (and popular too).”

    Mary, LA

Brilliant choice for my wife and me. Easy assembly, perfect water temperature (102-104 degrees). Powerful bubbles couldn’t be happier. The lid was a nice bonus. I was not sure about portable spas, but I did not have the time or money to invest in an upgraded electric and standard tub. I’m so glad I got this one. It’s quiet, deep, big, and hot enough, and I can’t get enough of it! The aches and pains have been dealt with. Totally recommend it to everybody.”

    Peter, NC

I bought this hot tub a few years ago. I originally thought it was disposable and wasn’t sure of its durability. I live in a motorhome and take comfort seriously. I have inflated/deflated the thing 5 times, stored it for a long time, and used it heavily. After all that, there is a little air leakage, but nothing more than that. I can attest to the quality of work put into the design of this product. The only thing I would change is the 3-day timer on the pump and heater. I hate that. I bought this hot tub expecting failure, but no. I have inflated and deflated it three times in 12-degree weather, and it still works. It keeps the temperature at 104 and does not have much of an effect on the electric bill.

    User Manual

Inflatable hot tubs are popular because they are quite simple and convenient to use. Despite this, we have some helpful tips and things to pay attention to for you.

    Installation process

First of all, you should choose a place where you will install a hot tub. This place should be flat and smooth so that the weight is distributed evenly. Do not use carpets or similar materials.

Next, the installation process depends on whether the jacuzzi will stand inside the house or outside.

    Indoor installation:

For this option, the main thing to take care of is the protection from moisture, which will appear from the hot tub. Provide ventilation so you do not have to worry about the condition of the wood or similar materials.

    Outdoor installation:

Here we have only two basic recommendations:

    1. Do not leave your hot tub in the sunlight for too long.
    2. We suggest installing your hot tub near the drain, as water may come out of the spa when it is filled or drained.

Otherwise, there is nothing complicated about the installation process if you follow the manual that comes with the hot tub.

    Warnings and lifehacks

In this section, we decided to collect some helpful non-obvious tips and cautions that will be useful to you when buying this hot tub.

    • Do not place your hot tub on an outdoor patio unless it is intended for this purpose. A hot tub filled with water and people becomes very heavy. Therefore, the place for the spa should be chosen carefully.
    • Cover the hot tub with a blanket during the day to reduce heat loss. You can even sew some blankets and cover the spa when not in use. You can also find some insulation (preferably waterproof) under the hot tub. The enclosed “bubble wrap” liner they give you to put under it is not always enough.
    • Change filters more often (you can even buy a few extra ones) to keep your hot tub clean.
    • We advise you and your guests to bathe before climbing into the hot tub. And rinse your suits thoroughly from the detergent. The cleaner you and your clothes are, the easier it will be for the filters and chemicals to handle cleaning the spa after use.

Can you use this hot tub in winter?

Coleman does not recommend using this hot tub at temperatures below 40 degrees. However, many users do and say they have not encountered any problems. But there are a few caveats and tips:

    1. Don’t forget the timer, which should be reset every three days. Otherwise, the pump can freeze and ruin everything.
    2. If you have a brief power outage, the hot tub won’t turn on automatically. So if your microwave clock flashes, you need to restart the hot tub.
    3. Keep the lid closed to keep the heat in.

How long does it take to heat it up?

The tub can heat water about 2 degrees per hour. So, if you used 50°F water from an outdoor faucet and you want 100°F water in the tub, you’ll have to wait 25 hours.

    Summary

Coleman SaluSpa Inflatable Hot Tub is one of the best options if you are looking for a classic affordable inflatable hot tub. It will give you pleasure while having many advantages over the hard shell hot tub. Easy to install, easy to move, and easy to maintain. At the same time, it is sturdy and will serve you for years (tested on hundreds of customers).

The 114 air jets will relax you anytime and even relieve back pain. Two or three of you will get the most out of a soak, but you can invite more people into your company. There are some minor drawbacks, but they overlap with the positives of this outdoor hot tub. Just relax and enjoy!

Hi, I’m Peter Rossi, a professional hot tub designer and founder of ByRossi. After having spent over 10 years designing hot tubs for Jacuzzi Group, I started a private practice. Now I design bespoke hot tubs for high-end apartments. I am based in New York, but my clients are all over the world – from San Francisco to Paris, Dubai, London and Tokyo. One thing I enjoy is writing. Hot tubs manufacturers have always been notorious for pushing cheap, subpar products for crazy prices, making profits on naive first-time buyers. So I consider it my social mission to share my expertise and educate clients on who is who in the industry. Lately, I started to work with other people who help me to develop the business. In particular, a couple of great researchers and veteran journalists help me convert my raw thoughts into beautiful articles which you might enjoy reading on ByRossi. Hope my efforts help.
